Gastroenterology and Hepatology Specialists, Inc. (GHS) was established in 1998 by Dr. Nabil Fahmy upon completion of his three year Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship in Richmond, Virginia. Under Dr. Fahmy’s leadership, the practice has grown into the success it is today. Dr. Lawrence E. Cohen joined the group in 2000 and by 2002 the practice outgrew its location in the Mercy Medical Center Professional Building. In 2004 the practice moved to its new facility in the upper level of 4360 Fulton Dr., N.W. Suite B in Canton (Jackson Township). Dr. Sameh Kamel joined the practice in 2008 following his GI fellowship in Long Island, New York. The practice also employs several physician extenders, Darin J. Vaughn, P.A.-C., Jennifer S. Gonzalez, P.A.-C., and Diana L. Hunter, C.N.S. These providers work very closely with the physicians in both the hospital and office settings in providing quality medical care to our patients. GHS handles all routine GI problems as well as pancreas and liver disorders. We also offer office capsule endoscopy services as well as outpatient Endoscopic Ultrasound. Endoscopic Ultrasound is a procedure that combines endoscopy and ultrasound in order to obtain images and information about the digestive tract and surrounding tissues and organs.
